After living abroad for 22 years, the hubby is now retired. To keep physically and mentally active in the absence of the demands of the corporate world, he was convinced that farming was the way to go -- working the land and dealing with the daily challenges to make a farm sustainable will surely keep us busy. It took two years traversing Marcos Highway before we found the spot.
In 2013 we started the development of our raw 6.3-hectare property. We planted forest trees, fruit trees and flowering plants, keeping in mind native flora and avifauna. We built our fence and access roads, dug ponds for water and set up our solar power source. In December 18, 2015 we broke ground to start the build of our dream house. All these via long distance calls and trips to Manila every two weeks – an expensive and gruelling task, but well worth it.
The cover picture illustrates colors of the Bagras Tree (also known as Rainbow Eucalyptus). Living here has added much color to our lives in unexpected ways - we wake up to the morning sounds of birds, unwind watching the sunset, and end the day under a canopy of stars. We hope that our family, friends and future generations will experience the same pleasure we derive from these simple joys and the blessings of Mother Nature. This we aspire to be our legacy.
